Growing up in Brown’s Bay, you learn a thing or two about weeds.

I spent a lot of time as a kid trying to rake a narrow path from shore out to where I could finally swim without getting seaweed wrapped around my legs. Some days it felt like a losing battle — the weeds grew faster than we could clear them.

That’s the foundation of The Lake Rakers. We know what it’s like to love the lake and still feel like you’re constantly fighting the weeds. We built this service so you don’t have to.

It’s a fair question — you’re inviting someone onto your shoreline, next to your dock, hoists, boats, and family.

Shoreline work is different from normal yard work. You don’t just need someone with a rake. You need someone who:

• Shows up when they say they will
• Understands how your bay actually behaves
• Knows the difference between light, moderate, and heavy-growth zones
• Respects your property, equipment, and neighbors
• Works within local rules and doesn’t “guess” what’s allowed

We grew up here and we work here. We know the Iowa Great Lakes system inside and out — Brown’s Bay, Miller’s Bay, Smith’s Bay, Emerson Bay, Pike’s Point, Upper East Lake, the Gar lakes, and the way each area grows weeds differently.

We don’t need a map to find your dock. We already understand the bay, the typical depth, and whether you’re in a light-growth or heavy-growth zone.
